For 25 years I have been the principal of McGonagill Associates, an organizational consulting and leadership development firm with a specialty in creating capacity for individual and organizational learning and change. I am a certified Focusing Trainer and for the past 4 years I have been integrating Focusing into my three principal areas of expertise:

I see Focusing as a natural complement to my Buddhist-influenced meditation practice of over three decades. Both Focusing and meditation are ways of cultivating and accessing greater self-awareness and inner wisdom. I am committed to working with leaders to develop these qualities and as they face the escalating challenges to our collective welfare.

What I'm doing

My workshops on coaching, leadership, conflict management, team building, and interpersonal skills have been offered through a number of executive programs, including Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and the M.I.T. Sloan School of Management. My two-day workshop “Assessing and Refining Your Leadership Style” is offered publicly through the Center for Management Research, www.yourleadershipstyle.com.

I have a doctorate in education from Harvard University, a master's degree from Stanford University and a B.A. from the University of Texas. I am a contributor to the Fifth Discipline Fieldbook, edited by Peter Senge et al. (New York: Doubleday, 1994) and the author of “The Coach as Reflective Practitioner,” a chapter in Executive Coaching, edited by C. Fitzgerald and J. Berger San Francisco: Davies Black Publishing, 2002, downloadable at www.reflectivepractitioner.com.

I’m available for the above services, designed to incorporate Focusing principles and delivered with a Focusing attitude. In addition, I offer:
