I have been focusing since 1996. I have taught Focusing to various professionals including health professionals, teachers, and people in business. I'm a physician interested in various techniques proven to be effective in achieving stress reduction and other positive lifestyle changes.

In addition to my Focusing interests, I provide physician consulting services specializing in quality of care and managed care issues. I have practiced Emergency Medicine for 12 years and have been a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the Massachusetts Medical Society, and the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review.

Being a mother conveys experiencing a life full of love, joyous moments and suprises. Being a mother can also invoke feelings of "being tested" or "feel on trial". These moments can be cruel, feel foreign and lonely. With FOCUSING you can learn how to honor yoursel as a guide and a teacher and how to tap into your natural understanding and knowing without getting caught in the drama of the moment. Focusing will help put to rest old defenses so as to gain new insights on how to problem solve, reduce stress and enhance creativity. Joalie has been focusing since 1996 and has taught this practice to various professionals including teachers, parents, healthcare providers and businessmen. She is a physician who became interested in various techniques which have proven effective in stress reduction and in achieving positive lifestyle changes. There is no class on April 22.

Introductory Workshop/Lecture
  A one- to two-hour synopsis of Focusing that includes a brief history and case illustrations. Learn how incorporating Focusing techniques in your approach to common issues provides movement toward feelings of well-being, balance, and greater ease. Group experiential mini-exercises in Focusing allow for demonstration and practice.
Half Day Workshop
  A three- to four-and-a-half-hour introduction to Focusing that includes a brief history and case illustrations. Learn how incorporating Focusing techniques in your approach to common issues provides movement toward feelings of well-being, balance, and greater ease. Group experiential mini-exercises in Focusing allow for demonstration and practice.

Healing the Health Care Provider

  This introduction to Focusing is available as a day-long, two-day or three-day workshop with emphasis on experiential practice of Focusing. Group Focusing exercises allow for practice in small groups with questions and feedback. Physicians learn and practice the process of clearing a space and Focusing on selected issues to access their inner wisdom. They learn to facilitate the process of being present and to listen and to hear their innate needs.
Healing The Physician Within: Getting in Touch with Your Inner Wisdom
  This exploration of Focusing is available as a day-long, two-day or three-day workshop. It emphasizes the process of Focusing to help nurture the provider's own primordial needs. This workshop introduces a process of being present with those needs and formulating empowering, lasting, positive changes through Focusing.
Ongoing Monthly Workshop
  This workshop consists of four two-hour sessions over four months. It includes both lecture and practice sessions, each concentrating on various aspects of Focusing practice and problem solving.
Celebrate your Life: Create your personal celebration, ritual or ceremony. For further details, see my brochure.
  I will help you create your personal ceremony and ritual, honoring what is holy or sacred to you. Using a process called Focusing, we work together to fully understand your desire and create a resolution. Here's how:
  First: Call for an initial, informational telephone session which will help you decide how this could work for you.
